SitRep

Dog training app · coming soon

The internet's dog training advice, sorted.

Ten videos give you ten different answers. SitRep turns them into one calm plan: short daily sessions for your dog, small steps you can see, and kind, force-free methods only. We are putting the last touches on it now.

Android and the web first. iPhone and iPad follow.

Too much advice, not too little.

SitRep brings it together in one place: several ways to teach each skill, and only kind, force-free methods.

Today

A plan for today that fits your day

Open the app and see what to train next: a ten-minute session at home, a walk with your phone in your pocket, or homework from your dog school. SitRep picks the next small step for each skill.

  • Several trainings a day, from a few minutes to a long walk
  • Phone-free walks with a short briefing before and a review after
  • A short dog article every day
Before a phone-free outing: a five-step plan for training near other dogs, then put the phone away

Sessions

Small steps, one ladder at a time

Every skill grows on its own ladders: how long, how far, how busy. SitRep raises one at a time and makes the others easier, the way good trainers do.

  • Over 90 lessons with step-by-step animations
  • Timers for holds, a tap for every rep
  • A quick skill check starts every skill where your dog already is
A session plan: pick where you train and how busy it is, then a warm-up, a 10-second stay and settle on mat

Progress

See how far you have come

Every rep counts toward your dog's skills, from Learning to Fluent to Proofed. A journal keeps the walks, the wins and the tough days, and every tough moment is paired with something that went well.

  • XP, levels, streaks and badges for you and your dog
  • A new challenge every month
  • A gentle start for shelter and rescue dogs

Privacy

No photos. Just you, your dog, drawn.

Make a cartoon of yourself and your dog: the breed or the mix, the ears, the bandana, the grumpy face. SitRep never asks for a photo, only a few avatar settings.

  • Hosted in Europe, on our own servers
  • Built on free and open-source software
  • Train offline; it syncs when you are back online

Questions

What is SitRep?

SitRep is a dog training app for owners. It turns the flood of dog training advice online into one plan: short daily sessions, over 90 force-free lessons with step-by-step animations, ready-made programs of several weeks, and a journal that shows your dog's progress.

When can I start?

Soon. A small group of dog owners is testing SitRep now. It opens on Android and the web first; iPhone and iPad follow. This page shows the news as soon as it opens.

Which training methods does SitRep use?

Reward-based, force-free training only: markers, treats, play, luring and shaping. Lessons that suggest harsh methods or aversive tools are blocked.

How much time does it take each day?

A few minutes is enough to start. Most sessions take 5 to 15 minutes, and walks count too: SitRep plans phone-free walks with a short briefing before and a review after.

Is SitRep for puppies too?

Yes. Ready-made plans such as Puppy basics and Puppy's first month keep sessions short enough for a puppy's attention. Getting a dog soon? You can start with lessons on how to prepare and add your dog when it arrives.

Does it help with a rescue dog?

Yes. SitRep has a gentle start for shelter and rescue dogs and a settling-in guide that follows the 3-3-3 rule: three days to decompress, three weeks to learn the routine, three months to feel at home.

My dog reacts to other dogs. Can SitRep help?

SitRep plans calm outings for that, step by step: you train at a distance where your dog notices other dogs but can still eat, and move closer only when it goes well. For fear or aggression, also see a qualified behaviourist.

Does it replace a trainer or a behaviourist?

No. SitRep helps you practise every day. For fear, aggression or a dog that is in pain, see your vet and a qualified behaviourist.

Does SitRep work offline?

Yes. You can train without a connection, and your training syncs when you are back online.

Who makes SitRep?

SitRep is made by Jooris IT CommV in Belgium. Your data will stay in Europe, on our own servers, and SitRep never asks for a photo: you and your dog are cartoon avatars.

Will it be in Dutch?

Yes. SitRep opens in English and Dutch.

Why "SitRep"?

A sitrep is a situation report. In SitRep you log your dog's sit reps, and you get a report on how the training is going.

Stop googling. Start training. Soon.
